The route

UB Touring Japan runs this twelve day guided ride out of Narita, east of Tokyo, and it is the longest of the three guided tours the company publishes. Riders are collected from a Tokyo area hotel, taken to the UB Touring office to pick up their motorcycle, and returned to Tokyo on the final evening. Everything in between is spent on the road with a leader riding in front.

From autumn 2026 the route covers eleven prefectures. It runs from Chiba and Kanagawa through Yamanashi and Shizuoka in the shadow of Mount Fuji, north into the mountains of Gifu, then out to the Sea of Japan coast through Ishikawa, Toyama and Niigata before turning back east through Fukushima, Tochigi and Ibaraki. That is a crossing of the main island rather than a loop around Tokyo, and it takes in both coasts.

Groups are small by design. The company leads two to five riders and says it will not take more, so this is closer to riding with a few others than joining a tour. The motorcycle is part of the price, a Triumph Tiger Sport 850 or a Tiger 900, supplied with panniers, a top box, GPS and an ETC card for the expressways. A passenger can ride pillion for a daily supplement.

Eleven nights of accommodation are included, along with breakfasts, dinner wherever the group stays somewhere rural, all tolls and parking, insurance and unlimited mileage. Lunches, dinners in the towns, fuel and admission to temples and UNESCO sites are paid as you go. Departures are fixed and there are two in 2027, one in May and one in October. The operator has told Stradora that published dates can move, so dates should be confirmed with UB Touring before travel is booked.
