Ultimate South America
A hundred days from Patagonia to Colombia, the full length of a continent in one ride.
Tell us your trip details and we'll put together a complimentary Stradora Expedition Pack for the journey.
The route
One hundred nights and seven countries, the longest expedition Compass runs anywhere in the world, from Patagonia to Colombia by motorcycle. Riders may bring their own bike, which is the cheaper option and includes shipping, or hire one instead.
The first stretch is Patagonia in full: the Chilean Lakes District, Bariloche, Esquel and Ruta 40, El Chalten below Fitzroy, the Moreno glacier, Torres del Paine, the Strait of Magellan and Ushuaia. The route then turns north up the Atlantic side through Comodoro, Puerto Madryn and the Valdes peninsula to Buenos Aires.
Brazil follows by way of Iguacu, the Costa Verde, Paraty and Rio, then the Pantanal, the largest tropical wetland in the world, and back through San Ignacio and the Chaco to Salta. Bolivia comes next at Tupiza, with Potosi, the Salar de Uyuni and La Paz at just under 4,000 metres, then Titicaca and into Peru for Arequipa, Colca Canyon, Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, with a detour out to Puerto Maldonado and the Amazon.
The last leg runs the length of the Peruvian Andes through Ayacucho, Huancayo and Huaraz below the Cordillera Blanca to the coast at Trujillo and Mancora, then Ecuador for Cuenca, Guayaquil, the Galapagos, Banos, Quito and Otavalo, and into Colombia at Pasto. Prices are quoted in US dollars, per person. A hundred nights is a sabbatical rather than a holiday, and the price reflects what it costs to support a group across a whole continent for that long. Shipping a bike out is included in that option, which at this duration works out cheaper than hiring and means the rider arrives on a machine they already trust.
