Route 66 Motorcycle Tour (Guided)

The full length of Route 66, fully guided. Fifteen days, fourteen nights and around 2,800 miles from Chicago to the Santa Monica Pier, with a tour leader out front, welcome and farewell dinners, and a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon along the way.

Guided changes the character of the trip. The route is led rather than followed, the group moves together, and the roadside stops are chosen by someone who has made the journey many times. The Pontiac museum, the Chain of Rocks Bridge, the Gateway Arch, the World’s Largest Rocking Chair at Fanning, Devil’s Elbow, the Blue Whale at Catoosa and Cadillac Ranch all appear in sequence rather than by luck.

The western half is the spectacular one. Santa Fe gets two nights and a free day, then Gallup, the Petrified Forest, the Wigwam Motel at Holbrook and Winslow lead to the Grand Canyon, where the helicopter flight takes in the canyon from the air. Seligman, Hackberry, Kingman and the climb down into Oatman follow, then the Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, Amboy and Ludlow before the Angeles Crest Highway drops into Los Angeles.
