17 nights through Canada

Seventeen nights on the operator’s grand western loop, in the version with the campsites already reserved and a roadbook supplied. The route is identical to the self-arranged version; the planning is what has been taken off your hands.

Vancouver opens it, then Manning Provincial Park, then the Okanagan, a long warm valley of vineyards and orchards that produces most of British Columbia’s wine. Revelstoke follows, then Yoho and Banff, with the Upper Hot Springs as the reward at the end of a driving day.

The Icefields Parkway carries the route north to Jasper by way of the Columbia Icefield, which is one of the largest bodies of ice south of the Arctic Circle and feeds glaciers into three separate oceans. Jasper itself is the largest park in the Canadian Rockies and the quietest of the four.

The return is the part that makes this a loop rather than an out-and-back. Wells Gray Provincial Park holds Helmcken Falls, which drops 141 metres into a bowl and freezes into an ice cone in winter. Whistler follows through the Coastal Mountains, and then the Sea-to-Sky Highway runs back down to Vancouver along Howe Sound, which is among the most scenic stretches of highway in Canada. Canadian Affair include the flights, the motorhome, the pre-booked campgrounds, the roadbook and the listed attractions, with fuel, insurance and meals separate. The price is per person, and at 2,322 pounds for seventeen nights including flights it is strong value by any measure. The loop also means no backtracking, so the scenery is new every day rather than repeated on the return leg.
