15 nights through Botswana

A self-drive safari where the vehicle comes with the trip. Fifteen days around Botswana in a fully equipped 4×4 camper, one per booking, sleeping in a roof tent and driving yourself in a guided group.

The circuit runs clockwise from Kasane. Chobe National Park comes first, including the remote Savuti, then the Okavango Delta and a mokoro trip in the Moremi Game Reserve, poled through the channels in a dugout canoe. Maun follows, then the route heads out to the Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pans, which are vast salt flats that flood and transform in the wet. The Boteti River section can catch the seasonal zebra migration, which is the largest in Africa and far less well known than the Serengeti crossing.

Evenings are braai, cooked over mopane coals, which is the right way to eat in that part of the world. All of the big five are present across the reserves on the route, though as anywhere in Africa what you see on the day is down to luck and patience.

Active 4×4 Adventures include the fully equipped camper for each booking, all three meals a day, every campsite fee, all national park and game reserve entry, and the mokoro excursion. Flights to Kasane, insurance, visas and drinks are separate. The price is per person based on two sharing. This and their Namibia trip are the only two in their range that supply the vehicle, which makes them the ones a traveller can book without owning a 4×4 at all.
