8 nights through Botswana

Safari-prepared Porsches across Botswana, Namibia’s Zambezi strip and into Zambia. Nine days and roughly 1,300 kilometres from Maun, taking in Khwai on the edge of the Okavango, the Chobe river, Victoria Falls and the Makgadikgadi salt pans.

The drives are long, rough and remote, and the cars get worked hard on sand and gravel, which is rather the point of the whole exercise. Khwai comes first at about 300 kilometres, then Kasika on the Chobe in the Zambezi region, with an optional day of driving around it. The crossing to Livingstone follows, and a day at Victoria Falls with no driving at all.

The last stretch is the big one. A 490-kilometre day runs to the Makgadikgadi Pans, among the largest salt flats on earth, where in the dry season there is nothing but white horizon in every direction and the driving becomes something closer to flying. A day on and around the pans follows before the return to Maun.

KALMAR provide the vehicle, its fuel and full support, the overnights, all meals and non-alcoholic drinks, park fees and included activities, airport transfers, special travel insurance and their own organisation. Flights to Maun, the visa service, alcohol and optional activities are separate. The price is per person based on two sharing a car and a double room. One thing to confirm when enquiring: the brochure this is built from is the 2025 edition, so the figures and the detail may have moved since. The trip is offered on request rather than on fixed dates.
