Romantic Road: Germany
The Romantic Road runs start to finish, through a walled medieval town that survived the war almost untouched and a castle that inspired a Disney logo – thirteen nights across Germany’s most storied riding route.

13 nights through Germany
Thirteen nights from Folkestone to Bavaria and back, following the Romantic Road, on a tour pitched at low daily mileage with time to stop. Riders bring their own bike through the tunnel or hire a current BMW.
The outward run crosses to the Ardennes and then Trier, the oldest city in Germany, by way of classic Belgian roads, and Ludwigsburg, which has one of the largest baroque palaces in Europe and sits in the country where Stuttgart builds its cars.
Wurzburg is where the Romantic Road begins, with its fortress above the Main and the wine country around it. Rothenburg ob der Tauber follows and gets two nights, a walled medieval town that came through the war largely intact and is now among the most complete in Germany, with an optional ride out to Schillingsfurst or Crellingen castle and a walk round the walls. Augsburg comes next, the oldest city in Bavaria, with an eleventh-century cathedral and the onion domes of Sankt Ulrich, and a rest day.
Fussen follows on the Lech at the edge of the Alps, with a day trip to Neuschwanstein, the castle Ludwig II built largely out of his own imagination and the one every film studio has borrowed since. The return runs to Titisee through the southern Black Forest and the Bodensee lakes, then a shorter Black Forest day with a free afternoon in the spa town of Baden-Baden, and a final night in the Ardennes. Hotels, breakfasts, the welcome and farewell dinners, the Channel crossing, maps and GPS routes are included, with fuel and other meals separate. The price is quoted per person.
