From Australia to Los Angeles - Globetrotting via Australasia
Lunch on the 122nd floor of the world’s tallest building, then work your way east across six countries to an overwater bungalow where sharks swim past the deck – twenty-three nights that treat ‘road trip’ as loosely as possible.
Tell us your trip details and we'll put together a complimentary Stradora Expedition Pack for the journey.
The route
Twenty-four days round the world westbound, with four stops where the driving happens and three where it does not. This is a round-the-world ticket with road trips attached rather than a single journey.
Dubai opens it with two nights and lunch in the Burj Khalifa, which at 828 metres remains the tallest building in the world by a considerable margin. Sydney follows with two nights, a private city tour, the Opera House and Bondi, and the city is used again on the way back.
Uluru comes next by flight and hire car for two nights. The rock is UNESCO listed for both natural and cultural reasons and is sacred to the Anangu, and the Field of Light installation nearby sets fifty thousand glowing stems across the desert floor beneath it. A helicopter flight is optional.
New Zealand takes the middle. Auckland gets two nights, then Rotorua three, reached by hire car, where Wai-O-Tapu has geysers and mud pools, Waimangu has the silica terraces, and a Maori hangi dinner is cooked in the ground. Tahiti follows for two nights with a 4×4 trip up the Papenoo valley, then Bora Bora for three in an overwater bungalow, with a boat out to swim among blacktip sharks and manta rays. Los Angeles closes the trip with two nights and a hire car for Beverly Hills, the Walk of Fame and Griffith Observatory. Original Travel include the hire cars, the flights between stops, accommodation, the tours, concierge access, a 24-hour helpline and carbon absorption. Prices run from 7,350 to 10,950 pounds per person.
