Morocco 4X4 Overland Expedition

Fifteen days across Morocco in your own 4×4, camping the whole way. From the ferry at Algeciras the route crosses the Rif Mountains and the cedar forests, climbs over the High Atlas, drops into the Sahara and comes back out through the Anti-Atlas.

The route deliberately avoids the tourist circuit. It spends its time on remote tracks, in gorges and along river beds, in country that very few visitors to Morocco ever see, and the nights are wild camps with meals cooked over the fire. A day in Marrakech sits in the middle of it as the one concession to civilisation, and quad biking and camel trekking are included.

The operator is straight about the difficulty. He describes the driving as demanding and says some passages need steady nerves, which is a more useful warning than most brochures manage. He also notes that his groups have run from people in their early twenties to people in their seventies, so it is a question of nerve and preparation rather than age.

Active 4×4 Adventures include all three meals a day for the duration, the open return ferries between Spain and Morocco, every campsite and accommodation fee, the Marrakech day, the quad biking and the camel trekking. You bring the vehicle and its fuel, the insurance and green card, and get yourself to Algeciras. The price is per person based on two adults sharing.
