69 nights through Colombia

Seventy days from Cartagena to Punta Arenas, the entire length of South America, on the rider’s own motorcycle. It is the longest tour in the catalogue by a wide margin and the most serious undertaking in it.

The northern leg crosses Colombia and Ecuador, over the equator, then down to Lima and Nazca with its desert figures, then up into the Andes for Machu Picchu and Cusco. Lake Titicaca and the Uros reed islands follow, then La Paz, which at roughly 3,600 metres is the highest seat of government in the world.

Bolivia supplies the two set pieces. The Yungas Road, known for decades as the Death Road, drops some three thousand metres on a narrow unsurfaced shelf cut into a cliff, and the Salar de Uyuni is the largest salt flat on earth, ten thousand square kilometres of blinding white that floods into a mirror after rain. The Atacama follows into Argentina, then Santiago, then the Carretera Austral into Patagonia past the Perito Moreno Glacier and Torres del Paine, and finally Tierra del Fuego, Ushuaia and Punta Arenas.

The motorcycle is not included and must be the rider’s own, with a rental quote available on request. Edelweiss provide expedition support, route planning and accommodation that the operator says will vary from three to five star with local infrastructure. No day-by-day itinerary is published, so the detail comes from the operator directly, and flights are separate. The price is 32,930 euros per person for 2027. Ten weeks and a continent is a once-in-a-lifetime proposition, and the operator treats it as one.
