3 nights through Bulgaria

Three nights at Banya near Bansko, guided, with one winter day in a 200bhp buggy and one on a snow bike.

Two very different machines in two days is the idea. The buggy is a Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo built for desert racing, and the snow bike is a GasGas 450 fitted with a ski at the front and a track at the back, which goes where neither a motorcycle nor a snowmobile would.

Sofia airport opens it, with a transfer of about two and a half hours to the Aquilon Spa Hotel at Banya, a briefing with the crew and a meal. The buggy day follows in the snowy mountains with the driving shared, starting with breakfast and a short run to the club base for kit, with lunch at a village tavern and a different route home for dinner and the thermal pools. The snow bike day comes next in the high Rhodopes in the same format. A five-day version adds a second snow bike day.

The buggy with shared driving, the snow bike, third-party insurance, the guide and technical support, the gear, the fuel, round-the-clock Sofia transfers, a double room at the Aquilon and full board including alcoholic drinks are all included; flights, travel insurance and spa treatments are not, and supplements are published for a single room, late check-out, an extra night and a private transfer. Winter is the season. Four days with two machines in it is the best way to find out which of the two suits before booking a longer trip on either.
