4 nights through Switzerland and Italy.

Four nights from Zurich with the Stelvio as the centrepiece, approached from the Swiss side rather than the Italian. Three driving days, and a route that strings the Engadin passes together either side of it.

The first drive runs down Lake Lucerne to Vitznau, then climbs the Oberalp and follows the Rhine gorge to the Albula, which shadows the Glacier Express railway up into the Engadin and St Moritz. The second is the one people come for: out past the medieval castle at Tarasp, into the Stelvio national park and over the pass itself, forty-odd hairpins stacked up a mountainside, then back over the Umbrail, the highest paved road in Switzerland, and the Ofen through the Swiss national park. The last day takes the Bernina with its railway alongside, drops into tax-free Livigno, then crosses the Flüela to Klosters and the Maienfeld vineyards before Zurich.

Two nights at Alex Lake Zürich, which sits out over the water, and two at the Grand Hotel Kronenhof, a Belle Époque grande dame in the Engadin.

A Porsche 718 Boxster GTS and a Lamborghini Huracán EVO Spyder are the cars offered, delivered and collected at the hotel. You drive alone with a curated route and support on call, and the season runs June to October, which is simply when the Stelvio is open. It suits a driver whose list has the Stelvio at the top of it and wants the Bernina, the Albula, the Umbrail and the Flüela thrown in around it, on a trip short enough to take twice.
